A beautiful medieval fortified village, one of the most beautiful, in a land rich in history and Dante's quotation as the Montefeltro is, a few kilometers from S. Leo, and Urbino, where you can enjoy excellent cuisine and stay in historic residences overlooking a breathtaking view on the sweet and lush hills of the Marche, surrounded by lush and unspoiled nature.
The medieval village of Cisterna, located in a charming panoramic position on a hill 1 km far from the ancient town of Macerata Feltria, is part of the Montefeltro, a land contested between Malatesta from Rimini and the Duke of Urbino, and it guarded the forced access to the Apsa valley and borders of the territory of Counts of Piagnano.
Indeed in the village there's a tower of the XII-XIII century and it's walls that, with the annex buildings, was the court of a local noble. This area keeps signs of older settelement maybe from roman time, when the village was a flourishing farm where seeds,wheat and so on all the land offered are retained, in ditches dug in sandstone and recently discovered. After the passage of the village to the Dukes of Urbino and than to the Papal State, the village has finally the function of rural residence so that at the start of 1900 there were about 90 people.
Inside the main building was build a big classroom also for children from the near villages. It was a place full of life also for the presence of a water deposit, from which the inhabitants of the area draw the water.

The life has been passed always harmoniously and with semplicity in Cisterna, as the elder remember, ready to celebrate every events dancing in the wide hague after, for example, the harvest or the threshing. Today, after years of abandonment, the village is alive thanks to the Gallerani family, that, leaving the big city and more comfortable jobs, has restored and funished, with attention and details refinement, to return the original characteristics and sensations. That seems impossibile, but, besides Mario and Stefania, also their four children Michele, Lucia, Elena and young Matteo, took part in the project and than in the realization, returning the walls, the interior and also the furniture to their original shape, that has preserved their beauty and antiquities.

Besides it's residence, Gallerani family fit some rooms, made from old rooms, for accommodation. The agriturism, predisposed to offer its guests a quite and rest holiday surrounded by nature, disposes of five double rooms, dining and recreational rooms.
The cuisine, made by the family with children too, is traditional with home made pasta and fresh meat.
In the end, the sensation felt entering the village is like to pass the line of time and plunge in the past, in an atmosphere characterized primarily by the beauty and hospitality.
The Rooms
Rooms have an independent entrance, private services, automated heating. They are all spacious (from 27 tyo 35 mq) and furnished with ancient forniture.
The Halls
Refreshments, congress, meetings and recriational activities take place in the ancient rooms, dated back to the XIV century.
There are also the external areas: from the wide patio there is a view over the entire territory of Montefeltro and Appennino.
