The Azienda Agricola Molino di Giugnano lies at the foot of Roccastrada, immersed in the cork oak woods of the wild Maremma countryside. The historic main building dates back to the year 1000 AD. It was part of the Benedictine monastery of San Salvatore di Giugnano, the ruins of whose ancient abbey can be found about six hundred metres further north. The farm is crossed by the torrential Bai river and there are many pleasant spots along its banks where you can relax in peace. Molino di Giugnano is in the Monteregio Massa Marittima DOC zone.
The Molino di Giugnano complex includes five rooms that have been tastefully restructured by the present owners. Interiors are in traditional terracotta brickwork with wood beam ceilings and stone facings. The rooms are fully equipped and furnished with attractive antiques. Private bathroom, satellite television and safe
Molino di Giugnano offers you a secluded holiday, far from the madding crowd - and traffic - in typical Maremma surroundings. You will be able to explore, on foot or by bicycle, scenic nature trails where it is not unusual to encounter wild boar or roe deer. Alternatively, you can sunbathe by the large private swimming pool. Molino di Giugano is within easy reach of mediaeval towns and cities like Siena, Massa Marittima, Montemassi and Roccatederighi. Only thirty minutes away are sea bathing resorts such as Castiglione della Pescaia and Follonica. Also close at hand are the Argentario promontory, Isola del Giglio and the Uccellina nature park, Monte Amiata and the spa resort of Saturnia.
Grosseto's Maremma is a living thing. It has a heart, ears, a mouth. Who knows what it would say to our spirit each day if we could speak its language and feel the throbbing of its pulse.
